Laterally Loaded Piles in Clay and Sand

For the analyses of laterally loaded piles, the two most common methods are:

the p-y Matlock analysis for piles in clay:

the p-y API Sand analysis for piles in sand:

While performing the p-y analyses, the results of Broms analysis are also presented. This is particularly useful for limit state design with load factors and geotechnical reduction factors to get a safe pile length for design.
